The Estate

Nestled in a valley high above San Pasqual, Domaine Artefact has a rich history of culture and cultivation. Domaine Artefact is nestled between granite studded ridges high above Escondido’s San Pasqual Valley. With elevations ranging from 850 to 1,000 feet, the east-west valley offers a unique microclimate that is moderated by cooling maritime breezes. Our growing season averages 240 days with annual temperatures rarely exceeding 95° F (35° C) or dipping below 35° F (2° C). Highland Valley has a rich history of culture and cultivation. Domaine Artefact pays homage to the estates of southern France and the numerous Kumeyay “artifacts” found on the property. The artifacts were curated and now reside in the San Bernardino Indian Museum. “Villes Viegnes” of Muscat of Alexander and Ruby Cabernet can be spotted in the low lying areas of the Domaine. These vines were planted by the Sgobossi family in the early 1900’s and survive to this day. View Recent UT Article
